Closer Than Anything

I wish you were liquid

So that way I could

Absorb you into my skin

Closer than anything

So I could wear you around all day

Like a layer of sunblock

Like I move and you move too

Closer than anything

Sheet spread cross the bed

Glass to the window

Concrete to the street

Closer than anything

Talking tattooed on my soul

Ink stamped on my sleeve

Buried deep but seen

Closer than anything

Hold me tighter than you have held a man

Like believing in being one again

Cause I've felt alive and I've felt alone

And here lately I've felt a bit of both

There's a world outside this place

It's crazy it's twisted

Resist it my lady

And steady on the reigns

Cause the train's at the station

And this brake man

Waits for no one

His eye like a raging sun

Is closer than anything to me

Hold me tighter than you have held a man

Like believing in being one again

Cause I've felt alive and I've felt alone

And here lately I've felt a bit of both

Sunlight splinters

Advancing and receding

Cross the carpet to the rhythm

Of the curtain in the wind

Yeah they move like we do

Thoughtless but together

Effortless like breathing in

Closer than anything

I wish you were liquid

So that way I could

Absorb you into my skin

Closer than anything
